Anthony Martial has signed for AEK Athens on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester United in the summer.
Martial, 28, has signed a three-year contract with the 13-time Greek champions after ending his nine-year stay at Old Trafford.
AEK, who also signed ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela earlier in July, are top of Super League Greece with 10 points from their opening four matches.
Martial moved to Old Trafford from Monaco in 2015 in a transfer worth £36m rising to £58m, a deal which at the time made him the world’s most expensive teenage footballer.
The French forward signed a five-year contract in 2019 which included a clause allowing United to extend his stay by 12 months until June 2025, but The Athletics reported in December that the club did not intend to exercise that option.
He scored 90 goals across an injury-interrupted career for United, with his last appearance in his final season for the club coming in December. He scored just two goals in 2023-24.
Martial spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Sevilla – where he scored just once – and won the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Community Shield during his time at Old Trafford.
The striker has been capped 30 times by France, scoring twice, with the last of those appearances coming in 2021.
