The Knicks made a blockbuster with the Timberwolves on Friday, which will bring Karl-Anthony Towns to Madison Square Garden.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks are sending an All-Star forward Julius Randle to Minnesota in the agreement.
The Pistons, Hawks and Heat were among the other teams that the Knicks had commercial negotiations involving Randle, through Begley.
The Knicks get a four-time All-Star in Towns, who is considered one of the best centers/forwards in the NBA. The seven-foot Towns averaged 21.8 points on 50 percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists through 62 games last season for the rookie Timberwolves.
As for Randle, dealing the three-time All-Star before training camp is a seismic move for the Knicks.
The 6-9 forward developed into an All-NBA player in New York, earning all-league honors in two of the past five seasons and winning the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award in 2020-21.
