Maybe it shouldn’t have been a surprise that the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Milwaukee Bucks, but Donovan Mitchell capped it off with some high drama.
The Cavaliers star sank a game-winner up the middle with 0.3 seconds left, breaking the hearts of the struggling Bucks and improving his team’s record to 7-0. The result pushes the Cavaliers to within one win of tying the best start in franchise history.
Mitchell finished with an even 30 points, plus four assists.
The end negated huge nights for Damian Lillard (41 points on 24 shots, nine assists) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (34 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists). Lillard was ready to be the hero at home when he made a go-ahead shot with 9.8 seconds left. Unfortunately, Dame Time was not the end of it.
The rest of the Bucks combined to go 15-of-38 from the field for 38 points.
Unfortunately, crushing defeat has been the theme of the Bucks’ season so far. They entered the year as would-be contenders in their first full season under head coach Doc Rivers and have been a 1-5 disaster thus far.
