Boogie shows Fox some love for breaking his Kings scoring record originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Kings star De’Aaron Fox got a lot love of the NBA world after scoring 109 points during his last two games. However, some of the support stand out more than others.
DeMarcus “Boogie” CousinsSacramento’s iconic center from his 2010-11 rookie season through the 2016-17 NBA trade deadline, paid his respects to his old team’s current franchise cornerstone.
“💪🏿,” Cousins commented Saturday under a Bleacher Report post highlighting Fox’s recent growth.
Cousins knows what it’s like to dominate as the face of the Kings. During his seven seasons with Sacramento, Cousins averaged 21.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and three assists and was a three-time All-Star.
Outside of his comment, the name of the big man reappeared through basketball channels because Fox’s unworldly two-game stretch.
Fox’s franchise-record 60 points on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves and 49 on Saturday against the Utah Jazz put “Swipa” alongside Cousins as the only Kings in history to score more than 100 points in a two-game stretch. .
Fox’s 109 points, however, surpassed Cousins’ previous team record of 104 points.
When Cousins’ tenure in Sacramento ended, Fox’s began shortly after. The guard later averaged 21.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists over 483 career games for the Kings.
Neither Cousins nor Fox could lead Sacramento to the city’s much-coveted first NBA title. But the two gave Kings fans much to cheer aboutespecially through dark times, during the last decade.
And it’s good to see Cousins giving her flowers to Fox.
