The inaugural Football Talk Friday it was not profitable – it is not wise to think that every week will be profitable – but we did get two out of five of our subordinates to the window. Unfortunately, Stanford was our only close shot (a seven-point loss to TCU) while Florida and Wyoming were knocked out despite some marketing agreement.
If Stanford had come home for us, the return on investment would have gone from -49.2 percent to 108.6 percent. That’s how close we were to having a huge start to our season. But that’s the nature of parlays. You get very close, but the reward rarely comes home. Anyway, this is mostly for entertainment purposes, as it was fun to root on Stanford on Friday night and then watch UNLV cruise to victory on Saturday before USC reached the window on Sunday.
Season record: 1-9, -$10.82, -49.2% ROI
Again, I must repeat: This is for entertainment. It was a losing week, and we lost just under $11. Don’t overshare these words.
This week will feature a lower safe round-robin parlay, just like last week. There are a lot more close games this week than last, so we have a better card to choose from.
I think these five money-strings all have value in my College Football Projection model – you can find my projections here – and I’ll put them in round-robin talk. These happen to be all underlings.
The bets:
- Michigan money line (+225)
- Pitt money string (+110)
- San Jose State money line (+165)
- Tulsa money string (+225)
- UL Monroe money line (+400)
A simple parlay would have all five of these bets together for odds of +23999. That means if you bet $1, you will win $240. This will be one part of our talk, but sportsbooks have a feature called round robins that will automatically talk different combinations.
On the BetMGM interface, scroll down your bet slip to see that section. I’ll pick “Round Robin 2/5.” This selection parlays each bet with another bet, creating a twelve-game parlay (eleven parlays in total if you include the five-game parlay above). I will throw $2 for each bet in this process for a total of $22.
The round robin speaks:
- Michigan/Pitt/San Jose State/Tulsa/UL Monroe (+23999) — $2 to win $480.00
- Michigan/Pitt (+582) – $2 to win $11.65
- Michigan/San Jose State (+761) – $2 to win $15.23
- Michigan/Tulsa (+956) – $2 to win $19.13
- Michigan/UL Monroe (+1232) – $2 to win $24.65
- Pitt/San Jose State (+456) – $2 to win $9.13
- Pitt/Tulsa (+582) – $2 to win $11.65
- Pitt/UL Monroe (+761) – $2 to win $15.22
- San Jose State/Tulsa (+761) – $2 to win $15.23
- San Jose State/UL Monroe (+986) – $2 to win $19.73
- Tulsa/UL Monroe (+1232) – $2 to win $24.65
