Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mountain are in contention to feature against Crystal Palace, but Erik ten Hag will make a late call-up ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.
Hojlund, 21, has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in July, while Mount, 25, has also missed the last two games with a hamstring problem.
But both have recently returned to first-team training and Ten Hag says he is considering their immediate inclusion.
“Very good news that they are back on the pitch, back in team training, we have to decide if they are fit enough to start, very pleased that they are back,” Ten Hag said. “Many games in this block to cover. We have to make the final call, they have done some training, we have to see how they recover. Then we’ll make the final call tomorrow.”
Manchester United suffered serious injuries during the last campaign, and Ten Hag knows he has to be careful about their reintegration.
“Careful and top football? You always go to limits,” he said. “It’s not avoidable, but when you have a full squad available, it’s easier to manage the load… We have to overload them, we hope we can integrate them very carefully.”
Ten Hag also said Marcus Rashford’s return to scoring form will boost confidence among his team. Rashford went 12 United games without a goal before finding the net at Southampton, and then added a confident brace against League Cup opposition Barnsley in midweek.
“Very well, of course, your striker starts scoring when the season is very young. Strikers need that belief. Very good for the team. It will strengthen their faith.”
