Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw will be available for Manchester United’s trip to Anfield on Sunday – but Harry Maguire will be absent.

Anthony Martial will also miss the game after he and Rashford were unavailable for the midweek home defeat to Bayern Munich due to illness.

“Harry, he won’t be available for the next games, but we don’t think it’s long-term,” manager Erik ten Hag confirmed on Friday. “Luke Shaw trained this morning so we think he is available for Sunday.

“Marcus Rashford (is available). Martial, not.”

Maguire withdrew before half-time in United’s midweek Champions League defeat – a result that saw them exit Europe – with what appeared to be a groin injury, with Jonny Evans taking his place alongside Raphael Varane.

Shaw did not reappear for the second half of the 1-0 defeat after a hamstring problem and made way for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Diogo Dalot switching sides.

Ten Hag are already without Bruno Fernandes, who picked up his fifth booking of the season in the defeat to Bournemouth and must serve a one-match suspension.

Victor Lindelof trained in the lead-up to the European tie but was not involved, while Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro and Mason Mount were sidelined.
