It’s been a wild ride, but Newcastle United are out of the Champions League.
Memories of the 4-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain will live on, but manager Eddie Howe and his players will turn their attention to the future, starting with Fulham at home on Saturday.
A draw or win would see Newcastle jump up to sixth (at least until Manchester United play Liverpool on Sunday) but defeat would see their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League further adrift.
So, what are Newcastle’s goals for the season now? Will their failure to reach even the Europa League knockout stages change their January transfer plans? Who should they introduce? And is Howe under any pressure..?
